One of the most sought after and famous race is the MotoGP or motorcycle Grand Prix. It is an international racing event that is open to all professional riders. Grand prix is a French word which means grand prize. A race can be considered a grand prix if it exceeds a distance of over 300 kilometers. Motorcycle units joined in this race is not offered publicly and not used for general purposes.
Federation International de Motorcyclisme (FIM) organized the first ever Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix in 1949. Races are typically classed according to engine size and are divided into three classes:
125cc and 250cc
( 125cc class is restricted to a single cylinder motorcycle and weight of 80 kilograms minimum; while a 250cc class is for 2 cylinder and 100 kilograms minimum weight.
Moto2 Class
( This class replaces the 250cc 2 stroke class using a 600cc 4-stroke class. Specific producers are named such as; Engines from Honda; tires from Dunlop; and electronics from FIM.
MotoGP
( The era of MotoGp started 2002. MotoGP class is for large engine competition. 4-stroke engine is required for this class. MotoGP is the most popular among the three classes. This race is joined by many participating countries using motorcycles especially designed and manufactured by Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, Ducati, etc.
Various race circuits have been designed and used for various MotoGP held. Valentino Rossi, an Italian Racer dominated the leading class in the early 21st century MotoGP season. MotoGP is participated by countries like Spain, Italy, Brazil, Japan, USA, Germany, etc. MotoGP and other motorcycle races has not only been famous in actual race circuits but on online and handheld console games also.
