Making gingerbread houses together is a tradition that our family has had for many years now. For the last two years we have invited friends over to make houses with us. This year we had the most friends over on record and we had a wonderful time together! I am always so impressed with the creativity that the kids bring to the table. Last year one of my boys made a gingerbread “RV” for his gingerbread men. It was quite comical! He even had little lights made of gumdrops that were strung along the RV with licorice. This year one of the moms brought little milk cartons for her daughters to use as bases for their little houses. It was quite precious when they were finished. Their little houses looked like something out of the Hansel and Gretel stories. Other favorite items this year were the gingerbread people going camping, complete with campfire (created from starburst candies), the gingerbread outhouse complete with candy made toilet, and the Santa sleigh with reindeer made from chocolate covered whopper candies and red-hot’s. The creativity always amazes me and also reminds me not only of the sweetness of the holiday, but that it is really indeed all about the little guys for Christmas. It is truly as magical as you can believe!
